The American Civil War (Eastern Theatre)

The American Civil War was a brutal battle between the North and South, those wishing to preserve the Union and those wanting to keep they way of life without the interference of Government.

The defining moment in American History in the 19th Century, the war of attrition covered a large area of the country.

The Video History Today American Civil War USB memory stick (Eastern Theatre) comes pre-loaded with unique video clips and photographs recorded at locations linked directly to the Civil War in the Eastern Theatre focusing on the major battles of the war including Gettysburg, Antietam and Chancellorsville.

Each file contains short video clips (all .wmv files) which can easily be transferred into a video editing package (such as Windows Moviemaker which comes with all Windows XP and Windows Vista personal computers), to produce educational video documentaries and essays.

In the tables below, the main features of each locations have been recorded with close ups and pans (moving the camera left to right etc).   Each location has been further split into obvious features of the site in order to help the user  have an idea of what the file contains.

Within each file are several video clips, photographs and sometimes useful information (maps, diagrams, leaflets) relating to each location.

In addition a small Google Earth file is included for each location which pin-points the exact position of the subject matter, (the resolution of Google Earth varies across the globe and therefore some locations are more visible than others).  In order for this to work the user must have already have the free Google Earth application installed on their personal computer.

IMPT NOTE:  The video files are all .WMV format for use on Windows XP and Windows Vista computers.  The files have not been designed for use on MAC computers. Files in the American Civil War Collection.
