D-Day, 6th June 1944, was the Allies invasion of Hitler’s Fortress Europe. While today its success is well known and dominates World War II history, at the time the invasion was anything but a success.

The aim of this video collection has been to record the obvious locations (the five well known beach sectors from Sword to Utah) but also to show some of the less well known but critical locations such as La Fiere, Pegasus Bridge, Pointe du Hoc, Brecourt Manor and Graignes.

Individually, none of these actions made the landings a success but in its own way each was key. Today, it is impossible to understand the sacrifice that the Allies made to make the landings a success. If nothing else, it is hoped that by seeing these locations, students will better understand the significance of the events of June 1944.
